I was born by the river, in a little tent Oh, and just like the river I've been running ever since It's been a long A long time coming But I know a change gonna come Oh, yes it will It's been too hard living But I'm afraid to die 'Cause I don't know what's up there Beyond the sky It's been a long A long time coming But I know a change gonna come Oh, yes it will I go to the movie And I go downtown Somebody keep telling me Don't hang around It's been a long A long time coming But I know, a change gonna come Oh, yes it will Then I go to my brother And I say, brother, help me please But he winds up, knockin' me Back down on my knees Oh, there been times that I thought I couldn't last for long But now I think I'm able, to carry on It's been a long A long time coming But I know a change gonna come Oh, yes it will

That's life (that's life) that's what people say You're riding high in April Shot down in May But I know I'm gonna change that tune When I'm back on top, back on top in June I said, that's life (that's life) and as funny as it may seem Some people get their kicks Stompin' on a dream But I don't let it, let it get me down 'Cause this fine old world it keeps spinnin' around I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate A poet, a pawn and a king I've been up and down and over and out And I know one thing Each time I find myself flat on my face I pick myself up and get back in the race That's life (that's life) I tell ya, I can't deny it I thought of quitting, baby But my heart just ain't gonna buy it And if I didn't think it was worth one single try I'd jump right on a big bird and then I'd fly I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate A poet, a pawn and a king I've been up and down and over and out And I know one thing Each time I find myself layin' flat on my face I just pick myself up and get back in the race That's life (that's life) that's life And I can't deny it Many times I thought of cuttin' out but my heart won't buy it But if there's nothing shakin' come here this July I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball and die My, my

I once lived the life of a millionaire, Spent all my money, didn't have any cares. Took all my friends out for a mighty good time, we bought bootleg liqour, champagne and wine. Then I began to fall so low, Lost all my good friends, didn't have nowhere to go. if I get my hands on one dollar again, I'll hang on to it till that eagle grins. 'Cause, nobody knows you When you're down and out. In your pocket, not one penny, And as for friends, you don't have any. When you finally get back up on your feet again, Everybody wants to be your long-lost friend. I Said it's strange, without any doubt, Nobody knows you when you're down and out.

Ain't found a way to kill me yet Eyes burn with stinging sweat Seems every path leads me to nowhere Wife and kids household pet Army green was no safe bet The bullets scream to me from somewhere Here they come to snuff the rooster Yeah here come the rooster, yeah You know he ain't gonna die No, no, no, ya know he ain't gonna die Walkin' tall machine gun man They spit on me in my home land Gloria sent me pictures of my boy Got my pills 'gainst mosquito death My buddy's breathin' his dyin' breath Oh god please won't you help me make it through Here they come to snuff the rooster Yeah here come the rooster, yeah You know he ain't gonna die No, no, no ya know he ain't gonna die

about

This is an album of cover songs I recorded or mixed.
Each of these songs has a very personal meaning to me, and I wanted to bring attention back to the original artists work by hopefully doing it justice in a stripped down acoustic setting.

I would perform these covers as warm up tunes to get me ready to perform my own music and become inspired to create my own voice.

I named the album this because i wanted to show a... softer side to my music, and it all started in my 1 room apartment with nothing but a notepad, chair, a bag of weed, and a guitar.
